Popular Vicente “Picosito” Garcia halted Fernando Chacon in the third round. Garcia put Chacon down three times in route to his 10th win.
Round one had Garcia taking his time in picking his shots, landing straight right hands to the left handed Chacon. Garcia being patient, finally was able to put Chacon on the seat of his pants in the: 30 of the opening stanza to give him a 10-8 round.
The pace would slow in the second with Garcia being patient again not rushing and possibly getting caught by a haymaker from Chacon. It seemed to be a matter of time before Garcia would end the night.
In the third Garcia ended matters by once again putting Chacon down with a right hand, this time the uppercut. Chacon was up at seven, but was on wobbly feet; Garcia would go in for the kill, once again landing another hard right hand that ended Chacon’s night.
Garcia, who is starting to get a large following in Albuquerque, raises his record to 10-3, while Chacon fell to 3-9-2, in an interesting side note, Garcia was challenged after the fight and at the weigh-in by local fighter Jeremiah Torres. Torres must still be unconscious as Garcia decapitated him in 2005, with Garcia getting better with each fight, the only thing good that would come from a rematch would be that the fight would be shorter and Torres would sustain less harm

Passed away on October 12, 2006 at the age of 20.
Vincent came to Albuquerque in 2001 at the age of 15 with great expectations that he would follow in the footsteps of one of his idols Johnny "Mi Vida Loca" Tapia to be the next New Mexicos Champion Greatest of the Greats. He was boxing through and through since the prime age of 3 years old. Everything thing about him that gave him that little push of adreneline that made him much more in love with the sport. From his training to his fighting he always gave it 200% of all that he was. Every time he had any type of interview he would never forget to metion his hometown "PURO BURQUE 505" and he fought his heart out for Albuquerque, New Mexico which it ultimetley took his death as well. HATERS is what really took his death, this is why i don't undestand that why does raza have to hate on each other when in reality we should be grateful and happy that someone from the hood made and was still making something of himself. Now he left us with all the great memories and love in all of us. We will move forward and learn from this tragedy that HATE Kills and God does not forgive that as it is one of the 10 Commandments of "Thou shall not Kill" and remember that when your hate consumes you to the point that you want to take someones life that you also killing someones son, daugther, brother, sister, nephew, niece, father, dad and Always remember how we felt the day that they took our Beloved Vicente El Picosito Garcia. Let ST Pico take care of them you all know that Vicente would always be there to listen and to talk as we all know. Now that he is in his spirit form he can really listend to all of us at all times. Hes still with us and will watch over us all.
Que Pasa todo mi gente this is your Boy Pico take care of each other and I love you All. |
